Verde Helpful

by carrotmobdurango on September 27, 2009

verdeIn an uber-fabulous turn of events, Claire at Verde PR reached out to us (She found us! We’re findable! Yay!) to offer to help us with PR. It seems there are a few events that are happening / may happen, and that way we can tie them all together so folks know what’s really going on that day, and we don’t steal one another’s thunder (or shoppers!).

Extraordinary news. We’re thrilled. As we push to get the bidding closed by the end of this week (fingers crossed), things are really starting to heat up.

Environmental Partners

by carrotmobdurango on September 24, 2009

ecos_logo_100x50We are very lucky to have some environmental partners on board. Mike Frisoni of Annadel Building Solutions in Mancos and Catherine Mercier of Ecos Consulting in Durango will help by doing a walkthrough of the winning bidder and make recommendations about what they should do with the dollars that come in.

In retrospect, we probably should have approached potential environmental partners with as much care as we did potential bidders — in person, armed with a laptop and a video. We thought that everyone would think it was just brilliant and jump on board. So we’re doubly glad to have Mike and Cat’s help. Thank you!!

In which the bidding happens

by carrotmobdurango on September 23, 2009

The bidding is happening!!thebean

So far we have bids from an anonymous sandwich shop, The Yellow Carrot, and Steaming Bean. We’re up to 10%, hoping to reach the original San Francisco bid of 22%.

Please continue to join our Facebook page and invite your friends. It’s a great way for us to show the businesses that we can turn a mob out in force and encourage them to bid!

Spread the Word!

by carrotmobdurango on

Many people are asking, “I want to get involved with Carrotmob Durango, what can I do to become a volunteer?”  Others are saying, “I wish I had the time to become a volunteer, but I am already so busy.”

What I say to both types of Carrotmobbers  is everyone can get involved! There are many roles that you can play to be an advicate for Carrotmob. To get involved and be a volunteer doesn’t require you a lot of time and effort. Right now all that we are asking is what this person is doing here:

Hey,
I’ve already been spreading the word. I’m very impressed by the concept. I’m a Psych major at the Fort and the idea of a zero sum gain, used as a political tool is very appealing. I would be delighted to help out however I can, and I will certainly be notifying all of my classmates and professors. Keep me posted and I’ll help with whatever I can.

Making a difference in Carrotmob Durango can be very simple and easy so spread the word!

Going to visit businesses!

by carrotmobdurango on September 10, 2009

We’re just confirming with our environmental partner tomorrow and then we’ll be ready to visit businesses! Very excited to really see the ball start rolling. Brent with Carrotmob HQ just pointed us to this shorter version of the Carrotmob video for businesses, so we’ll be shopping it around, and fingers crossed we’ll get a great response!

If anyone reading this knows a business manager or owner in Durango, please let us know. It always helps to have an “in”!

A Carrotmob in Durango?

by carrotmobdurango on September 2, 2009

That’s right! We’re going to be one of the smallest towns ever to have a Carrotmob. We’re holding it October 24th, to coincide with 350.org’s International Day of Climate Action. LeeAnn, Sabrina, Kerstan, Jordan and I are feeling confident that with its buy-local sensibilities and its love of the outdoors, Durango will turn out in force.

We’ll be talking to businesses in the next week to see who’s interested in getting involved. If you’d like to get your business involved or volunteer yourself, contact us at carrotmobdurango@gmail.com. We’ll post more as we move ahead with our planning.
